Beer Calories Calculator

One piece of data that is conspicuously missing from most of your favorite beer bottles or cans is calories. It’s odd that they just can’t add it, but for whatever reason most do not. But ABV% is on every bottle. And, it ends up, you can figure out the relationship between ABV and calories in beer. And it’s pretty linear. So, I saved folks the math and created this calculator. Just enter the ABV and it estimates the calories. Try it out! and give it a quick star rating, please, you can also leave comments below.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

How it works

Data was collected for over 310 beers from various sources. Some were direct from the breweries, others were from beer bottles and beer data statistical collections. I analyzed the relationship between ABV and calories and found a strong correlation, meaning that for the number of calories in any one beer, a majority is driven by the amount of alcohol. For you number geeks out there the R2 is .8. For you beer geeks, you may know that given a beer style, calories can be driven by additional factors that translate to increased carbohydrates.

This is the first release of this calculator, and it would be great to get your input. As it is developed, you will see the addition of beer style and an option to select the number of fluid ounces.
